Everyone has heard of spring cleaning, but why wait until then to clean out the junk you’ve accumulated over the summer?
An ounce of preparation is worth a ton of junk removal! Here are a few things you can do.
Preparation starts with a plan
Survey your property, inside and out, up and down. Look in all the hidden places, like closets, the garage, the hidden junk nooks in the backyard, the attic. You don’t want to do all this work only to find one last pile.
Then, make three lists:
- What gets sold: You might be surprised to find some valuables that can go. Think eBay, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, or a garage sale.
- What gets donated: This list is usually the stuff that’s still in good condition but not worth the trouble of selling.
- What gets junked: This is everything that’s left — the outdated, the broken, the unknown. Pile it all up and let us come get it. This list also helps us give you a better quote on what we’ll be picking up.
Make sure it’s not something borrowed!
Go through your piles again. This time, make sure you’re not getting rid of someone else’s junk. If you’re not sure, set it aside and get a second opinion. Over the time you accumulated your junk, you might have borrowed some of that from friends or neighbors. You’ll be surprised at some of the borrowed junk we’ve hauled away, from CD collections to public library books.
Think yard debris
We pile up so much junk in the hidden nooks on our property. Piles of leaves, clipped branches, and left over gardening materials can make their way into a pile that eventually blends into a regular part of your yard over time. Walk the perimeter of your yard and take note of those unwanted piles that avoided notice for so many years.
Turn Your Lists into Piles
You’ve surveyed the property and made your lists of what’s getting picked up, what’s getting donated, and what’s getting sold. Now, turn those lists into piles. Start sorting the junk out. You can make an easy pile in each room or area, then consolidate at the end. When you’re done, you’ll be amazed at how much you’re getting cleared out, but you’ll be ready to schedule us to come take our pile away. But then what?
Preparation ends with scheduled Your Junk Removal, Now What?
